Jade Dynasty (ZXOnline) New Race: The Athan

November 16, 2009

With Perfect World getting a new race with two classes, Jade Dynasty / ZXOnline aren’t far behind as they’ve got their new race: The Athan.

The Balo

Within this demigod race, there are two Factions, the first of which is the Balo. These hardened warriors come at a time when many in the mortal realm are looking to seize power and the secret to immortality. To combat this problem, the Immortals have created the Balo: indispensable frontline fighters that were formed to represent pure brute strength and were inspired by the invulnerability of molten rock.

Yes folks, they are deemed to be the ultimate tank. Big weapons and armors for big people.

The Athan

Regarding the other Athan faction, the Arden, they look like a near carbon copy of Perfect World’s Venomancers / Yao Jing with bows as the primary weapon. Oh, and by the way, they have the capability to summon monsters/pets. More on the vid below:

Will wait for these races to shake up e-GamesZXOnline here in the Philippines soon.

Application security vendor Cenzic today released its security trends report for the first half of 2009 application. In it, Cenzic claims that the Mozilla’s Firefox browser led the field of Web browsers in terms of total vulnerabilities.

According to Cenzic, Firefox accounted for 44 percent of all browser vulnerabilities reported in the first half of 2009. In contrast, Apple’s Safari had 35 percent of all reported browser vulnerability, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer was third at 15 percent and Opera had just six percent share.
The 2009 figures stand in contrast to Cenzic’s Q3/Q4 2008 report, where IE accounted for 43 percent of all reported Web browser vulnerabilities and Firefox followed closely at 39 percent.

What’s worse is that Internet Explorer beat them…

NCsoft CEO Jaeho Lee made reference to the possibility of a 2010 beta, and subsequent 2011 launch for Guild Wars 2 in a recent conference call to investors, stating, “I believe there will be certain public events in the year 2010… at least a closed beta test for those titles. Commercialization will be expected, at this point, probably some time in the year 2011.”

iPhone Worm is Rick Astley’s Face

November 9, 2009

Rick Astley used to be a big star in the 80’s but now, thanks to some people in YouTube, have become some sort of a joke because of the Rick Roll’d phenomenon. It seems to have died a natural death around late 2008, but it seems to have made a comeback, in a somewhat sinister way: he’s become a worm for jailbroken iPhones.

Atlantica Online Does a DDO

November 7, 2009

NDOOR’s Atlantica Online is one of the better MMORPGs out there. However, the client download can be a bit troublesome due to the large size (1.85 GB) and possible lagtime because the downloader is far away from the download server site.

In order to get around this hurdle, NDOORS have decided to pull a DDO type of download scheme, where the user downloads only a small part of the necessary files and then eventually you will have to download the other files as you go along (after level 20)

Our all new Lite Client design to accommodate new players who want to give Atlantica Online a try, without having to wait to download the entire game.

This all new client is a small download that contains the beginning parts of Atlantica Online only that allows new players to get in and start playing more quickly.

The Lite Client works by letting the user to download a small portion of the game in order to begin experiencing the early stages of the game. While player are enjoying the first level 1-20 level areas that are included in this Lite Client, the Lite Client will continually be downloading the rest of the game in the background to allow players to keep progressing into later parts of the game.

*NOTE*
The Lite Client only contains content for levels 1-20, the remaining full client files will be downloaded as a background process during normal gameplay. Existing users may experience gameplay issues for content beyond level 20. For players who already have characters above level 20, we recommend downloading and installing the Full Client to avoid any potential issues.

This would be great for people who just want to try out the game and for people like me who have uninstalled the previous game client.

New Level Up Ph Games! K.O.S. Secret Operations and Neosteam

November 7, 2009

Level Up Philippines have finally got their own First Person shooter (FPS) in the guise of  K.O.S. Secret Operations and a new MMORPG Neosteam. This was revealed today during Level Up Live 2009.

From all I know about it is that it’s a Valve Source Engine powered game, and is based on YNK Korea’s Sting: Secret Operations. YNK has an existing game with LUG: Rohan. Although i’m not a big FPS fan, most of my kids are, so me and the kids will have to test this out when it goes to OBT.

Here’s a sample of the KOS Gameplay:

I used to play Neosteam Intl a few months ago and enjoyed it. It’s an MMORPG with a steampunk-like setting, multiple races, and two factions. I played it primarily for its ambiance as the gameplay feels like an ordinary MMORPG. I have to be honest with you: the graphics resemble a PSOne J-RPG.

Gameplay vid below:

More news on these games as soon as I get it.
